Athena Fund – Empowering the Teachers of Israel

The Ted Arison Family Foundation supports the Athena Fund, established with the goal of promoting the empowerment of teachers in Israel. It offers them a set of technological tools for self-fulfillment and personal advancement, while raising their status as advanced teachers, who are connected and innovative, geared for coping with the information revolution and with the required changes in the role of the teacher, elevating themselves from mere “sources of information” to true mentors.

The fund’s core program is A Laptop Computer for Every Teacher in Israel. In was sponsored by the Prime Minister’s Office, and created in collaboration with Histadrut Hamorim (Teacher’s Council), Ministry of Education, Bank Massad, and additional donors form both the business and third sectors.

The Ted Arison Family Foundation chose to assist in attaining this goal by supporting the program for six years, from 2009 to 2015. In 2017, The Ted Arison Family Foundation granted another contribution, for a unique program run by this organization, which took upon itself to advance education for special needs in Israel, providing each of this system’s teachers with an iPad, and is committed to this program with a four year grant, from 2017 to 2020, totaling $2,065,100.
